The Pod 5
Ed Ovett
Host of Ed’s Mixed Bag
Web Site: www.edsmixedbag.podshow.com
Bio: Ed is 60 years young and the father of 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren. Living in south Florida for more than 30 years, he now qualifies as a Floridian. Ed’s origins stem from Brooklyn, N.Y. At Brooklyn College he studied liberal arts for two years and also 1 year of electronics at a Miami vocational school.
Ed once held a First Class FCC license, but aside from a few mid-west “on-air” auditions, it never was utilized. Life simply took him in another direction. Ed always knew there was something definitely “wrong” with mainstream media. Then he started listening to a few technology podcasts. Ed knew he could do the music and voice mix, but that XML stuff was the stumbling block! Mike Smith of The Mike Smith Show spent 3 hours on the phone with Ed explaining RSS and Feedburner. His efforts were very much appreciated, but then Ed found Libsyn’s sandbox and, as they say, the rest is history! Ed began production of the Ed’s Mixed Bag podcast in October of 2005 and as of this writing has done over 100 episodes in the same amount of weeks, having never missed a beat!!
Ed’s day job? He’s worked for the school district of Palm Beach County in south Florida, in a non-instructional capacity, for 21 years. First as a Graphics technician, and then after the demise of that dept Ed learned about the repair and maintenance of the school’s fire alarm systems, enjoying the electronic aspect. If the school district ever latches on to educational podcasting, He’d like to be directly involved with what would be a new frontier for them! Ed has 3 years left with the school district and then its retirement and podcasting forever!
Zack “The Mothman” Daggy
CEO of Mothpod Productions
Web Site: www.mothpodproductions.com
Bio: By day Zack is your typical mild mannered Web designer. By night he is The Mothman! New media superhero and all around shameless bastard. Zack began his exploits as The Mothman on August 3rd, 2006. It was on that day that Zack staked his claim to the new media pie (which oddly enough tastes like apple crumble ala mode). The indie music, down with mainstream, “RIAA can bite me,” revolution known as The Mothpod had begun.
It was soon after the Mothpod’s premier that Zack discovered that he was a shameless self promoter. His “shameless plugging” eventually became so out of hand that he began to plug everything in sight. This finally erupted into a second podcast know as The Shameless Plugcast. A new media talk show featuring interviews with the movers and shakers of the independent scene.
This project had quenched Zack’s hunger for plugging, but at this point he had a new craving. It wasn’t until he had started his 7th podcast that Zack realized that he had an addiction. An addiction to producing original content. Currently Zack finds himself as the head of an emerging media empire known as Mothpod Productions™

Bio: Dwight Dunlop was born and raised north of the 49th parallel, in Ottawa Canada, where he revels in the cold Canadian winters. (Some say his blood is a natural antifreeze, others say his metabolism runs so fast his body needs to cold winters to keep from over heating). For a real job, Dwight works as a lab rat for an optical manufacturing company, but he would rather be roaming around with his Edrioal RO9 getting interviews with people that have much more interesting jobs than he has .
While getting bitten by the pod casting bug back in April of 2006, (That bite has let its scars) and not really having a clue of what to do or how to do it, he still manages to put out shows from time to time where people from around the world can listen and learn about his tastes in podsafe music and what its like to live in the great white north. With the assistance of his four footed feline audio engineers Coco and Charlie, he revels in his part in the new media revolution. Dwight is known to have a bit of an over active imagination, but so far he has not become as bad as his hero Scott Sigler. But his wife still loves him.
